Park Hyung-sik is back to captivate his fans' hearts as he is officially discharged from the military.

Strong Girl Bong-soon and Hwarang actor Park Hyung-sik is officially discharged from his military duties today, January 4.

Although the singer-turned-actor has been out for a while on his final leave due to COVID-19 protocols, it was only today that his agency announced his official discharge from the military.

Following the announcement, his agency, United Artists Agency, also released new profile pictures of the K-drama actor and announced that he is currently working on selecting his next project.

“In addition, Park Hyung-sik is highly interested in advertising as he has served as an advertising model for various products before joining the military,” it said in the statement.

Park Hyung-sik rose to fame as a member of the South Korean boy group ZE:A and its sub-group ZE:A Five.

He began his acting career in 2012 after starring in the drama I Remember You but gained wider recognition in 2013 after joining Real Man, a variety show where eight male celebrities experience life in the military.

The same year he was cast in the teen drama The Heirs alongside Lee Min-ho and Park Shin-hye.

In 2016, he starred alongside Park Seo-joon in the historical drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth where he played the role of Sammakejong, the 24th monarch of the Kingdom of Silla in Korea.

In 2017, Park Hyung-sik landed his first lead role in the romantic-comedy series Strong Girl Bong-soon, with actress Park Bo-young which received critical and commercial success.

He began his military service on June 10, 2019, when he entered the Nonsan Army Recruit Training Center in South Chungcheon Province to receive his basic military training. He then continued his duties in the military police department of the Capital Defense Command as an active-duty soldier.

Before his enlistment, Park Hyung-sik said that he wanted to join the Capital Defense Command after receiving positive feedback for his shooting skills while training for the show Real Man.

At the time, he mentioned wanting to put his skills to good use and to serve his country well.

The Korean actor has visited the Philippines a couple of times, first in 2012 at the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga with the band ZE:A, and in 2017 and 2019 for his fan meeting.

Aside from Park Hyung-sik, other esteemed Korean celebrities will also be discharged from military service this year, including 2PM's Junho, FT Islands Lee Hong-ki and Lee Jae-jin, and BIGBANG's Seungri.
